Anomalies

Identifying Attendance Discrepancies Between Your System and Unique Schools

The Anomalies section highlights differences between your external attendance system (e.g. VSware/Tyro) and notes submitted through the Unique Schools app.

It acts as a flagging tool to help you quickly identify:

  • Incorrect roll call marks in your attendance system
  • Incorrect note types submitted by parents (e.g. Late Note submitted instead of Absent Note, or vice versa)
  • Situations where a note has been submitted but the attendance code does not match

This feature does not automatically change your attendance system — it simply alerts you so you can review and take action where necessary.

How to Access the Anomalies Section

  1. Go to uniqueschoolapp.ie and log in.
  2. Under Attendance Overview, click Anomalies.

What You Will See

The Anomalies screen displays:

  • Student Name
  • Year & Class
  • Attendance Date
  • AM & PM Attendance Codes (from your external attendance system)
  • Note Received (e.g. Absent Note, Late Note)

This allows you to clearly compare:

  • What was marked in your attendance system
  • What note was submitted by the parent via the app

Reviewing an Anomaly

Each item in the list is clickable.

You can:

  • Click on the Note Received to view what the parent submitted
    • This may include additional details (e.g. “On a school trip”)
  • Review the attendance codes listed for AM and PM
  • Cross-check with your attendance system if needed

Example scenarios:

  • A parent submits an Absent Note, but the student is marked Present.
  • A parent submits a Late Note, but the student is marked Absent.
  • A student is marked School Activity, but the parent entered an absence note.

Taking Action

Once reviewed:

  1. Correct the mark in your attendance system if required.
  2. Once satisfied, tick the record.
  3. Click Mark Acknowledged.

Important:

  • Marking as Acknowledged simply removes the record from the Anomalies list.
  • It does not send any communication to parents.
  • It does not update your attendance system.
  • It is for internal tracking only, so you know the issue has been reviewed.

Best Practice

Check the Anomalies tab daily or weekly.

Use it as a quality control tool to ensure attendance records and parent communications are aligned.

This helps prevent confusion, incorrect notifications, and follow-up queries from parents.
