Share school achievements, trips, sports results and events through News. Use Notifications for important or time-sensitive announcements.
News is not private. All school-app users can see a published News post. For a message intended only for selected people, use Personal Notifications.
In this guide
1. Create the post
- Sign in at uniqueschoolapp.ie.
- From the main dashboard, open Communications → News → Add News. Alternatively, choose Manage News and click Add.
- Enter a clear Title (up to 150 characters) and the Content (up to 10,000 characters).
- Choose a Category if you use categories to organise the News feed.
2. Add images, video or documents
- Image: select images from your library or upload new ones.
- Video: choose an available video. If video is unavailable, complete the Vimeo setup first.
- Document: attach a PDF where needed.
Follow the file limits shown on screen. Check image permissions, filenames and attachments before publishing. Use the Add images to gallery option if you also want the selected images in a gallery.
3. Set timing and additional channels
Open Schedule & Archive if you want a future Schedule Date or a specific Archive Date. Check the dates rather than relying on an assumed default.
Under Additional Channels, select any connected destinations you also want to use, such as Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram or the school website. Review each platform’s limitations and remember that public social posts may reach people outside the school app.
4. Delivery: choose who receives the push alert
Everyone can see the post — you choose who receives the push alert. Selecting a user type or year group does not restrict visibility of the News post.
Example: if you select parents or guardians in 2nd Year, that group receives the push alert, but all school-app users can still see the post.
- Turn on Send Notification if you want to send a push alert.
- Select the relevant User Type and Years.
- Check the selection before sending.
If you leave Send Notification off, no push alert is sent, but the published News post remains visible in the app feed. Older screens may call this option Send as Push Notification.
If your version offers an SMS option, review its audience and any charges before selecting it. SMS is a separate delivery channel.
5. Preview and publish
- Click Preview and check the content and attachments.
- Review the schedule, additional channels and push-alert recipients.
- Choose Save Draft to finish later, or Send when ready.
A limited-access user’s post may remain Pending until a full-access user approves it. A scheduled post appears at its selected publication time.
