As the Public Relations Officer (PRO), you are the key communicator between the school and its community. You should have full posting access within the Unique Schools system and are responsible for sharing news, events, and updates that promote school life and achievements. Your role ensures that content is timely, accurate, engaging, and reflective of the school’s values.
Please contact US via staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie if you need us to provide full posting access.
Your Main Responsibilities
1. News Section Management
You do not need approval to post News items.
You are in charge of posting nice-to-know updates, such as:
- School concerts
- Sports events
- Student achievements
- Extracurricular highlights
2. Reviewing Pending News Posts
Limited access users may submit News items for approval.
You can be set up to receive an email notification when posts are pending. (Please contact US via staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie for email notifications).
To review:
- Go to the News section.
- Check the content.
- Edit (if needed).
- Approve and publish.
✅ Best Practice: Letting staff submit posts directly through the system saves you from creating posts based on WhatsApp or email messages. It keeps everything secure, centralised, and traceable.
Posting to Social Media
From the News creation screen, you can cross-post to:
- Twitter/X
- School website
Simply check the relevant boxes before publishing the News item.
⚠️ If social media options are missing, contact:

Adding Images to News
Always include at least one image to improve engagement.
If no image is added, the school crest is used by default — which may lead to reduced attention from parents.
You have access to a pre-approved image library. When adding images, you will see the “US Icons” folder. (If missing, please contact US via staffsupport@uniqueschools.ie).
Use these royalty-free images for:
- News
- Notifications
- Shop Items
- Personal Notifications
⚠️ Avoid downloading random images from the internet — they may not be royalty free and can lead to copyright issues or app store takedowns.
