The Attendance Overview page offers a streamlined way to view and manage student absences, including absent notes submitted by parents or absence requests sent out by Unique Schools.
Important Note:
Accurate roll calls by staff are essential to ensure correct absence records. Parents are notified of absences based on the AM/PM roll calls, so any errors can lead to parents receiving incorrect information. While occasional mistakes may happen, efforts should be made to minimize them as much as possible.
Additionally, parents have the option to select Please Check if they believe their child is in school.
How to View and Manage Absences
Accessing Attendance Overview:
- Navigate to the Attendance Overview page from the Year Head Dashboard.
- By default, it will display today's attendance for all students.
- To view attendance for a different date range, use the date filter at the top of the page.
Viewing Assigned Student Data:

Depending on your role, you will see specific student groups:
- Year Heads: Only assigned year groups (e.g., First Year Head sees First Year data).
- Principal, Deputy Principal, Attendance Officer, or Office Staff: Access to all student data.
Absent Notes Overview:
- The default tab under "All Student Attendance" is Absent, which displays all absent notes.

Absences are displayed with a Status:
- Green (Submitted): Explained absences submitted by parents.
- Red (Requested): Unexplained absences where a request was sent but not yet completed by the parent.

Information Displayed in the Absent Tab
For each absence, the following details are available:
- Student Name: Clickable to open the Student Profile page for more detailed information.
- Year & Class: The student's current year and class group.
- From & To Dates: The dates associated with the absence.
- Reason: The parent-submitted reason for the absence.
- Further Details: Hover over the information ("i") icon to view additional details if provided.

Created & Submitted Dates: These timestamps indicate when the absence was either requested by the school or submitted by a parent.
- Note: Created and Submitted dates will differ if a parent is responding to a request versus submitting an advance absence note.

Send PN Icon:
- Click this icon to send a templated Personal Notification (PN) to parents regarding the absence.

View Icon:
- Use this to view the absence note in a separate, detailed format.

Edit Icon:
- Edit the absence date range, if the parent submits incorrect information.
